You may have noticed my recent obsession with the Pickles designs. One of the designs that threw me over the edge and convinced me that they were definitely worth following was the Day Job Dress (Å, for et Kjoleliv).
I knit mine in a combination of Blackhill Silk Mohair (a very red one) and a dark pink Nikolaj Garn wool. The mix is light and airy.
The construction is ingenious. The narrow waist section is made just by going down several needle sizes. Hence, a light and airy fabric for is required for the main part; otherwise, the difference in size will not be large enough just by adjusting the needle size. After the waist section, the sleeves are made simply by some quite heavy increasing. The shoulders are joined with kitchener stitch. Very clever construction indeed.
Oh, and there is no crease on the dress - it had just been lying in a pile in my wardrobe for a few weeks before the photos were taken.
